Having any kind of cosmetic surgery done is an extremely personal decision, especially when the surgery hits close to the self-confidence and self-worth we feel. The decision to undergo mastopexy in Northport is a big one on its own, but many women consider adding a breast augmentation on top of it to get the chest they’ve always wanted.
At Indian Hills Aesthetics, we always encourage our patients to take their time when considering cosmetic surgery. We want you to consider all your options and be absolutely sure about what you want. We love delivering amazing results for our patients more than anything, and the only way we can make this happen is if we’re on the same page!
We’re going to cover whether or not you may consider adding a breast augmentation onto your breast lift, what each of these procedures entail, who is and isn’t a candidate, and what kind of questions you may have.
Should I get both procedures done?
Finding the procedure(s) that are right for you depends on what your treatment goals are. Mastopexy in Northport alone won’t enhance your breast size or correct volume loss, asymmetry, or any abnormalities. This procedure—also known as a breast lift—has the main goal of reshaping and lifting sagging or drooping breasts.
A breast augmentation will enhance breast size, restore volume, correct asymmetry, and address abnormalities. A breast augmentation will not lift or correct significant sagginess.
Do you want to enhance your breast size and appearance?
If you want to correct sagginess while also adding volume to your breasts, then this treatment combo is a great option!
Do you need a breast lift?
Ask yourself: Do I have significant droopiness? Generally, our younger patients who haven’t had children or haven’t had fluctuating weight don’t need a breast lift. Our older patients are better candidates, as breasts tend to droop with age, childbirth, and weight fluctuation.
When you come in for a consultation, Dr. Wallace will be able to recommend the best treatment plan for you; this could include a breast augmentation, a breast lift, or both.

What is a breast lift?
A breast lift is a surgical procedure that reshapes, lifts, and contours sagging or drooping breasts. This procedure is a major confidence booster for many women who’ve struggled with self-consciousness.
Am I a candidate for mastopexy in Northport?
If you’re struggling with self-consciousness as a result of your drooping or sagging breasts, you are likely a candidate for a breast lift.
We can perform your mastopexy if you:
- Aren’t happy with your sagging or drooping breasts
- Want to improve the appearance of your breasts
- Do not smoke or vape
- Don’t plan to breastfeed (as a breast lift may decrease your ability to breastfeed)
Who is not a candidate for a breast lift?
If you smoke or vape, we won’t be able to perform your breast lift. These activities interrupt your body’s natural healing processes and therefore interfere with and lessen your procedure results.
We also make sure our patients know that mastopexy in Northport won’t make your breasts larger. If that’s what you’re looking for, that would be breast augmentation. But, these two procedures can be performed together for optimal results!

What is breast augmentation?
Breast augmentation enhances the shape and enlarges the size of your breasts—it’s the process of getting breast implants. If you want to change the shape or size of your breasts, restore lost volume, or correct asymmetry, breast augmentation is your treatment.
Breast implants come in all shapes and sizes and can either be made of silicone or saline. We welcome our patients to join us at our Tuscaloosa office and look at and feel our implant options as many times as you’d like before your procedure. We want to make sure you get the exact size and feel you want.
Silicone
Silicone implants are pre-filled with a thick silicone gel that feels similar to natural breast tissue. We require patients to be at least 22 years old for silicone implants.
Saline
Saline implants are made of a small sack designed to take the natural shape of a breast. Once Dr. Wallace inserts the implant, she will manually fill the sack with saline until she reaches your desired volume. We require patients to be at least 18 years old to get saline implants.
Am I a candidate for breast implants?
You are a candidate for breast augmentation if you:
- Want to improve the shape, size, or symmetry of your breasts
- Are at least 18 years old
- Are not pregnant or breastfeeding
Treatment Time
Both a mastopexy in Northport and breast augmentation take between 1 and 2 hours each. When combined, the procedures can take around 3 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions: Mastopexy in Northport
How much does a breast lift cost?
A breast lift starts at ,6895 but varies by a patient’s unique anatomy and goals.
What happens during a breast lift?
Once you arrive for your procedure, we’ll go over procedure expectations, aftercare instructions, and any of your questions. Then, Dr. Wallace will mark your areas for treatment and place you under general anesthesia.
Once you’re under anesthesia, Dr. Wallace will make small incisions around your areolae and the lower portion of your breasts. From here, she’ll remove excess skin, reduce the size of your areolae, and reposition your nipples.
Does the procedure hurt?
The procedure itself won’t hurt since you’ll be under anesthesia. Afterwards, you’ll experience pain and soreness near the incisions for a week or two. The pain is tolerable and is nothing that over-the-counter pain meds and cool compresses can’t minimize.
Can I breastfeed after getting a breast lift?
In most cases, yes. However, some women have experienced a decrease in the ability to breastfeed effectively. The incisions could affect your nerves and ducts, making breastfeeding more challenging than before your breast lift.
Does a breast lift make your breasts bigger?
No, a breast lift doesn’t make your breasts bigger. They will likely appear higher and can help your bras and clothing fit better. However, a breast augmentation does enlarge your breasts, which you can get at the same time as a breast lift!
How long will I have to take off work?
We tell our patients to take off work for 1 to 2 weeks.
Who can’t get a breast lift?
You aren’t a candidate for a breast lift if you smoke or vape, as these activities interrupt healing.
Will the sensations in my nipples change?
Potentially. A small percentage of women have decreased sensation in their nipples after breast lift.
Will I have follow-up appointments?
Yes, a series of them. We’ll see you 1 week post-op to check on your healing progress, then periodically for the first 6 months after your surgery.
Will I have scars?
Yes. There will be scarring around the areola and lower portion of the breast, but it won’t be visible in a swimsuit or bra. We do offer silicone therapy and Silagen treatments that you can take home with you if you’re interested in scar reduction.
How long does it take to fully recover from mastopexy in Northport?
6 to 12 weeks.
